Sofia is an autonomous province of Madagascar, one of 22 and the second largest, covering about 51,100 square kilometres — 9% of the country. It lies in the northeast. It lies wholly within the tropics. It borders Alaotra-Mangoro, Analanjirofo, Betsiboka, Boeny, Diana and Sava.
