Essequibo Islands-West Demerara is a region of Guyana, one of ten and the eighth largest, covering about 3,790 square kilometres — 2% of the country. It lies in the northeast. It lies wholly within the tropics. It borders Demerara-Mahaica, East Berbice-Corentyne, Mahaica-Berbice and Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo.
