Tashkent is a region of Uzbekistan, one of 14 and the eighth largest, covering about 15,500 square kilometres — 3% of the country. It lies in the east. It is made up of two separate pieces of land. It borders Namangan, Sirdaryo and Tashkent. The Syr Darya runs through it.
