Barisal is a division of Bangladesh, one of seven and the seventh largest, covering about 8,900 square kilometres — 6% of the country. It lies in the south. It is made up of ten separate pieces of land. It lies wholly within the tropics. It borders Chittagong, Dhaka and Khulna. The Ganges runs through it.
