Sofala is a province of Mozambique, one of eleven and the eighth largest, covering about 67,400 square kilometres — 9% of the country. It lies in the west. It lies wholly within the tropics. It borders Inhambane, Manica, Tete and Zambezia. The Zambezi runs through it.
