Maluku Utara is a province of Indonesia, one of 33 and the 22th largest, covering about 29,200 square kilometres — 2% of the country. It lies in the northeast. It is made up of ten separate pieces of land. It lies wholly within the tropics. It shares no border with another subdivision of the country.
