Profile

Background and figures as recorded in the CIA World Factbook.

The UK seized Hong Kong in 1841, and China formally ceded it the following year at the end of the First Opium War. The Kowloon Peninsula was added in 1860 at the end of the Second Opium War, and the UK obtained a 99-year lease of the New Territories in 1898. Pursuant to a UK-China agreement in 1984, Hong Kong became the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China as of 1 July 1997.

Two ways to take part

They are different things, done by different entities, and one is never a route to the other.

Roarcry · the church

Give

A donation to the congregation. It is not repaid, earns nothing, and carries no claim on anything. Roarcry is not a registered 501(c)(3), so give as a gift rather than for a write-off.

A gift named for Hong Kong is a restricted gift: recorded against Hong Kong and spent there. If it cannot be spent there within a year it is pooled into the general fund and spent wherever it is needed most. That is a term of the gift, said here so that giving is agreeing to it.

Investment Fund, LLC · the issuer

Invest

A subscription for Class B units. It is at risk, it is not tax-deductible, it is not a donation, and you can lose all of it. Open only to verified accredited investors.

One fund covers every country on the map, on one set of terms. No country has its own vehicle, its own minimum or its own return.

The church is not the issuer, not a guarantor and not a party to any subscription. No donation to the church confers any interest in the fund.
