About

Katanga is a province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, one of eleven and the second largest, covering about 489,000 square kilometres — 21% of the country. It lies in the southeast. It lies wholly within the tropics. It borders Kasaï-Occidental, Kasaï-Oriental and Sud-Kivu. The Congo, Kasai and Lualaba run through it, and it takes in Lac Moeru and Lake Tanganyika.
